Kohl’s is a Deal Maker

So much has been given, to me, from Kohl’s since I figured out how to Play their game.

Last month, I signed up for a Kohl’s charge card.  I was buying some sterling silver jewelry, that was already 60% off and the speaker above my head kept telling me I could get an additional 15% off if I opened an account.

I figured that if I don’t keep a running balance on this card, I won’t have to worry about their horrendous percentage rate.

Since I opened that card, though, I’ve had many unexpected surprises.

@HeatherSolos and I braved shopping, one afternoon, and a package of knives, that I had been wanting to buy was on sale.  As I reached to pick up this three-pack of sharp kitchen knives, the package split and all three knives tried to stab our feet.  Heather and I blocked the kids and jumped at the same time.  Very scary.

As a benefit to this “could have been disaster,” I took the knives to customer service, where they gave me a 10% damaged package discount.

The knives retailed for $74.99.  They were on sale for 52.99.  I received the 10% off from customer service and used an additional 15% off coupon I received for opening my account.

To make this deal even sweeter, I had a $10 Kohls gift card, in my wallet, from an internet deal I did last year.

I paid $37.91 for the knives.

My second deal was for two gym bags, original priced $24.99 each.  They were on sale buy one get another 50% off.

I returned a blouse that didn’t fit me, and opted for a gift card, in return.  When I got to the register, they were playing a scratch-off game and we were able to scratch a % discount.  IF we received (which we did,) two 15%, they would combine them.

With my mailed Kohl’s $10 cash card, the returned blouse, and these scratch off’s, we purchased the bags for $8.87!

I have three more coupons that I can use, depending on how I wish to pay.

  • Discover sent me a coupon for $10 off $20 purchase at Kohl’s, if I use my Discover card, on the purchase.
  • Kohl’s sent me a peel off sale ad, that ended up being a 30% off coupon. (dated 8/11-8/18)
  • Kohl’s, also sent me $10 Gift card to use between 8/11-8/21.

So, I’m going to Bi-Lo to get Kohl’s Gift Cards. I’m able to stack the 30% coupon with the $10 card. (You can’t stack percentages, they say.)

And I’ll let you know what I get.. :)
