My body can’t quite keep up with my new OCD tendencies. I want to keep organizing and purging and getting things all looking nice and cleaned out. I have several decorative pretty storage boxes empty now. I still haven’t unpacked my organized craft backpacks (two) so I’ve been making room for it. The Boy said he’d help me empty them out and sort places for them to go tomorrow.

I have to get above the bed (well, the boy will for me) and dust and see if there is anything in the decorative boxes up there. Most of them up there are heart shaped and sitting on their sides so the hearts face forward. Anyway, I want to utilize all my space, so when its all said and done.. instead of labeling the boxes with something uglier than the box I’m going to sketch out some diagrams to remind me where to find things.

I’m also thinking about little hanging tags would be cute.

But, anyway, I was thinking about an organizing system where I would give every type of item an index card. I’ll file those index cards alphabetically. I’ll also give each box a card. I’ll file those right along with the others. If I think something would be called or referred to as more than one thing or has more than one purpose, I’ll make a card for each name or purpose, too. Then when I need something, I can look it up and know where to go to find it. I was also thinking about utilizing some baseball card sleeves, in the back of my calendar, for this purpose. Easier to see things at a glance.

What type of system do you use to find things when you need them, after you’ve had a huge overhaul or have moved??

Do you use decorative storage? Have you considered it? If you have any more ideas, I’d love to hear about them in the comments below.
