What I’ve learned from Facebook lately..

ShareTweet   Friendship is a sheltering tree. ~Samuel Taylor Coleridge I’ve always said I have a love/hate relationship with FaceBook.  I love gathering with friends, old and new, and tons of extended family.  Its nice to lend a hug when someone is in need and its always nice to receive a hug when my day is not going all that grand.  I love being back in touch with all my cousins, too.  I, also love all my new local friends that i’ve made since I moved to South Carolina.  Its nice to keep in touch with friends we have had to leave behind when we’ve moved. I hate that FaceBook knows things about my family or friends before I do.  I hate that FaceBook wants to know everything.  I hate misunderstandings caused by lack … Read entire article »

I guess they call them books or folios or something like that ::giggle::

ShareTweet I’m still addicted to YT and I’ve been trying to learn how to make these folio book things. I’ve gone over a tutorial about three times now. I’m trying to commit as much as I can to memory because of all the tut’s I’ve seen, this one is the most detailed, uses no glue in the binding and just is my favorite, so far. Three parts I’ll put below: Now, just for fun, I thought I’d include a peek at some of the finished foto folios that I wish I was talented enough to create or had a gold mine of money to buy kits. These are my favorite yummies so far, as well: Here is a convertible album in a box: I”M IN LOVE WITH THIS PAPER: Thanks for spending … Read entire article »

Scary Truths about Lipozene OTC

ShareTweet Over-the-counter Diet “Pill” Lipozene is all the rave, lately. The premise is it claims you are fat because of excess cortisol in your body.  What it doesn’t explain is that there are true medical reasons that you could have high levels of cortisol in your body. If Lipozene works for you, you probably are in desperate need of an endocrinologist. Your body produces cortisol through glands in the body , either because it is enlarged or even has a tumor on it. This makes using an over-the-counter product (mail order too) negative to your well being and health. I have not seen any of these warnings on the commercials I’ve seen about Lipozene.  I’ve seen more negative side-effects in commercials about pharmaceuticals than I have about this dangerous product that no one should risk their lives … Read entire article »

New Year, New Beginningz

ShareTweet Happy New Year, 2013. I’m feeling very positive about more writing and more posting in all areas of my blog and net-life.  I know its been a while and I can’t really explain all the funk that been going around or that I’ve been feeling.  I just know that its going to be a better year to come as 2012 has now closed. After losing my blogging tribe, I’m in process of building a new one, for survival of the fittest.  It just works better and easier with a village working beside you. I’m currently trying to find some more really good quality blogs to read.  I can’t take so much of the commercialism without much content.  I’m much too old to talk about potty’s too. I just want a regular program, online, of … Read entire article »

Living withing Reach

ShareTweet I’ve considered over and over if I should write this post. I’ve been giving a lot about my personal life away, lately, for the sake of honesty and integrity in blogging and hoping that others out there don’t think that they are alone, in any way. I live within reach. This means that everything I may need or want has to be within reach of me. I fell off the bed, the other night, trying to reach for something.  I yelled “help” for over an hour, before someone in my house, woke up for other reasons and could hear me.  Helping me up was torture and only added to my pain, but I’m okay. But, this only re-enforces the idea of living within reach..  Except for when I was on the floor I’m in … Read entire article »

I’m a depressed adult born of a depressed adult

ShareTweet For the most part, I don’t write about my depression.  I only try to keep this blog full of the good times.  Hence the emptiness in the last year or two. Something happened to me two weeks ago, though.  I found me again.  That’s the only way I can describe it.  I could set aside the war torn, tossed and turned life I’ve lived, and think of things to write about again. A battle emerged on my Facebook page, the other night, and my “grandmother” said something about stepping back and re-evaluating how I felt.  I deleted all the posts related to this entanglement. For the first time I saw and realized that many read and don’t comment. I realized they were there. I wished someone a Happy Birthday and in their Thank-you, they … Read entire article »

Digital Tab Hell – Finding my Tribe – Within Sisters in Bloom

ShareTweet I’ve been fishing blogz.  This is like being a fisher of men (women mostly.)  I’m trying, desperately to find my tribe and the blogz I’ve bee reading have been teaching  me so much about me, and my life and my spirit.. and the spiritual being I want to return to being.  So, this may get a little sappy for my regular readers.. but here I am.. and this is what is going on right now: Of course, Sisters in Bloom started this as I started to read the blogs of those contributors.  Wonderful women who lay their hearts out for us to read their souls.. First, Meet Jessica and her sweet family who hail, originally, from my home-town in San Diego. I have so much to learn from Jennifer, at You are My … Read entire article »

An 800 pound Gorilla wants to pee in my Cheerios

ShareTweet The best way to explain it is to copy/paste the emails to you, removing all the guilty party logos, names, and email addresses.  Then  you tell me what you think. First, you’ve heard of Collected.info right?  Collected.info is a Public Feed Reader.  I enjoy gathering my Feeds to read there, so I can easily categorize and read for the curating I do.  I made a mistake, though.  I decided to make a genealogy one and name is after my genealogy site .com and well, umm, that might just make this an dirtier pee than I’m thinking, right now. Okay, here we go: http://familyhugz.collected.info/ Hello Heidi (name deleted to protect the gorilla) here from (name deleted to protect the gorilla).  I’ve had several inquiries via email this morning about the feeds at Family Hugz.)(** note ** … Read entire article »

You Must See These – Its time to be disgusted

ShareTweet You’ve heard about how you should see Food, Inc.  And you should.  You should also add SuperSize Me to that list of Must See’s.  But I just finished watching King Corn and if you have Netflix, you should go watch it now.  I’m amazed.  I’m not sure any food is all that great for us anymore. We are killing ourselves one sip and bite at a time and only we can do something about this. I stopped eating fast food a long time ago.  I’m an avid food label reader.  I live with others who demand foods i would never buy.. but they are in my refrigerator. I <3 Dr. Pepper.  I can live on Pepsi Throwback from Publix until I can switch off the whole soda bandwagon. I’m not there, yet.  But … Read entire article »

My idea of Blue

ShareTweet I’m not a real “blue” fan. I think the Mauve and True Blue of the 1980’s burned me out.  But, there are some blues that I do like and I thought I’d show you some of them. I mentioned this in the post about why I wist, that I’d work on some blues. Heidi getz the Bluez by carolinadreamz … Read entire article »

Best Blog Background Sound I’ve ever heard

ShareTweet I’m very anti blog background sound. I, usually, surf, with my sound muted. I love music. I just don’t love being scared silly, surprised, or even offended by someone elses different choices.. so I choose to avoid it. I had one blog that friends had loved the piano self-started background sound.. but that was an exception to my rule of background sound. Now, today, I happened on a site, browsing for digital scrapbook paper, and I started to hear birds.. and it started so subtly, that I thought they were outside my window, and not on my speakers! Here, you listen. Doesn’t it make you feel a little warmer?  I think I’m already ready for Spring. … Read entire article »

I’ve been blogging five years now! Amazing..

ShareTweet I began blogging in 2005. It took me a little thought to think of that date.  (Luckily its programmed in the html of the widget.) I never would have thought five years and three laptops later, I’d be at the beginning of a new blogging life.  The big blog hack and crash, of 2010, has had its toll on my patience and some days its hard to remember all the hundreds of posts are not here, anymore. I’ll continue to dig through the back doors, and bring forward some of those lost treasures. As the holidays are in full swing around us, I almost refuse to leave my house, to sit in traffic or wait in any lines. IF I can’t have it easily, I won’t have it at all! I’m thankful for … Read entire article »

My HomeMade Non Hydrogenated Margarine – Butter Extender

ShareTweet In direct response to this post about healthier choices, I share my option for still eating butter, but extending it and adding the olive oil, too. 1 cup room temperature butter 1 cup extra virgin olive oil 1/2 cup filtered water 1/4 tsp liquid lecithin Whip together to form your home made margarine.  Its healthy for you.  It extends your butter, so its a less expensive option, and you don’t lose any of the taste of the real stuff.  Non hydrogenated and all. :) If it doesn’t come together, I add a few more drops of lecithin.  I don’t use this, at home, as often as I should, but I always make it for baked potato parties or potlucks.  I should make this more often, for home use. hat tip to article: Saturday Stumbles at Not a … Read entire article »

Deep Fried Banana Rolls

ShareTweet The first time we made these banana rolls, we used Spring Roll Wrappers, at a Spring Roll Party. I’ve been having a real hard time with the Spring Roll Wrappers, so I’ve switched to Egg Roll Wrappers, purchased in the produce department, at the supermarket. I like these better, with Egg Roll Wrappers. They make my mouth make delightful noise! Yes, they do. mmmmmMMmmmmm This time, we used four bananas and skipped the powdered sugar. The key is water.. it makes your glue.. this is messy, but so worth it.. … Read entire article »

My Silent Disability

ShareTweet I found this on a friend’s site and it is amazingly true. Some disabilities appear quite normal, in public. Please think before you get mad and Judge wrongly. No one would choose to have any illness. Some days these are all me and sometimes just part me.. rarely are they never me. For anyone who suffers with Fibromyalgia this is for YOU OR for anyone who has a family member, loved one, friend or knows anyone living with Fibromyalgia this is also for YOU … perhaps it puts into a perspective what someone who has this goes though!!! Remember, never JUDGE a person UNLESS you walk in their shoes!!!!! YOU THINK YOU KNOW, BUT YOU HAVE NOO IDEA!!! 1. My pain – My pain is not your pain. It is not caused … Read entire article »
