Have you seen the commercial about the lady on the laying on the couch in the mall?
This particular commercial about the lady on the red couch in the middle of the mall is about migraines and 1/2 living. I have to relate this situation and peek at how my life is. I’m holding down my couch. I can see the Endo in the end of January, and I made the appointment in October. Now, new problem and I’m seriously considering a complete hysterectomy like my hematologist wants. This health is just getting to the point of ridiculous. I’m the one on the red couch.. think of me when you see it. Life is moving around me. Well, what more can I say? The only test that came back abnormal was my upper high cholesterol. The HDL? What a zoo. … Read entire article »

Tricare and Blue Cross are being banned from Walgreens RX in 2012
A few months ago, my daughter had to sign a petition, at Walgreens to save her ability to keep using Walgreens for her prescription needs. Last week, I was informed, over the phone and then, again, this afternoon, at the pharmacy.. Many insurance companies are not going to allow us to use the major pharmacies in the near future. Right now, I can fill two maintenance medications locally. Then I have to get a 90 day prescription and use the insurance company’s pharmacy.. When mistakes happen, which just recently happened to me, we are stuck with 90 days worth of a useless product or not enough after you’ve paid your bill. Its all a mess and only going to get worse. God Bless America. … Read entire article »

Laughing at my Bucket List
July 2010 and today are so drastically different. I can’t say I can come up with 100 things like that again and it was fun and sad to read. Most of my friends I planned to do things with I don’t even speak to anymore. #42 hits too personal to me. I chatted on FB with him, recently. He’s happily married and I doubt he’d ever take me to fulfill his promise. I was just over pleased he spoke to me and doesn’t hate me anymore. I hurt him tremendously as a very young girl. I’m sorry for all the pain I caused him and I hope he knows it. You never forget your first love.. Ron, you still amaze me. Strong and True. and that’s … Read entire article »

Strike Three – You’re Out!
My medical doctor has a serious problem. I have a serious problem because of it. I’m out of options of where to go for primary care so I’m avoiding primary care. First Strike: My medical doctor had me sign a contract that said I would only get my Ambien from him and only at CVS pharmacy near my home. When I called for a refill and waited three or four days for it to be called in, I happened to send my son to the Walgreens to get some other prescriptions, for me… and guess what else he brought home? My Ambien. Who broke that contract? Strike Two: My insurance company only allows two months of maintenance medications at my local pharmacy of choice and then I must get a … Read entire article »

An 800 pound Gorilla wants to pee in my Cheerios
The best way to explain it is to copy/paste the emails to you, removing all the guilty party logos, names, and email addresses. Then you tell me what you think. First, you’ve heard of Collected.info right? Collected.info is a Public Feed Reader. I enjoy gathering my Feeds to read there, so I can easily categorize and read for the curating I do. I made a mistake, though. I decided to make a genealogy one and name is after my genealogy site .com and well, umm, that might just make this an dirtier pee than I’m thinking, right now. Okay, here we go: http://familyhugz.collected.info/ Hello Heidi (name deleted to protect the gorilla) here from (name deleted to protect the gorilla). I’ve had several inquiries via email this morning about the feeds at Family Hugz.)(** note ** … Read entire article »

You Must See These – Its time to be disgusted
You’ve heard about how you should see Food, Inc. And you should. You should also add SuperSize Me to that list of Must See’s. But I just finished watching King Corn and if you have Netflix, you should go watch it now. I’m amazed. I’m not sure any food is all that great for us anymore. We are killing ourselves one sip and bite at a time and only we can do something about this. I stopped eating fast food a long time ago. I’m an avid food label reader. I live with others who demand foods i would never buy.. but they are in my refrigerator. I <3 Dr. Pepper. I can live on Pepsi Throwback from Publix until I can switch off the whole soda bandwagon. I’m not there, yet. But … Read entire article »

My Opinion on the matter at hand..
So Osama Bin Laden is dead. Our Mission is accomplished. Time to leave Afghanistan and Pakistan. We need those troops home to defend us against those that loved Osama and hate us. Stay in Iraq like we stayed in Korea. Our troops are just targets now. We are all targets now. I’m impressed that Obama spoke like we all should be 912′ers. God Bless America. Thank you to our brave Troops. Never forget. Don’t cheer and shoot guns like they did when our towers were falling. Light a candle. Remember. … Read entire article »

Sangaree BiLo Gets a FaceLift
We’ve often referred to “my BiLo” in a semi-negative way. Its just wasn’t up to the fashions of Moncks Corner or Hanahan and it was depressing. This is the only neighborhood grocery store that survived when our Wally World went Super. I’m proud to announce (and they aren’t giving me a thing to say this) that they are having a Grand Opening on May 4, 2011. The store is beautiful. New floors, new produce department, new machines. I’m so very impressed. Oh and they got a facelift on the outside, too. Now “My BiLo” isn’t a dreadful thing to say. (I hope complaining to corporate last year didn’t get anyone fired. shshshs we’ll just be quiet about this, ok?) The only downer, the booklet they sent has a … Read entire article »

Update from California
Mom is going in, this morning, for another CT. They suspect another intestinal blockage. She was lucky to survive the last without a colostomy.. Friday Five – Top Evernote Links – Top Twitter Favorites
My Top Five Evernote Links this week: Chris Brogan takes on Social Media Etiquette. This is a great post that anyone interested in Social Media should read. Marelisa shares 32 Small Ways to Change the World. My favorite is number 29. Seed pills excite me, too! Heatlh Impact New Daily has shared an interesting post about Saturate Fats, Cholesterol in the brain, relating Alzheimers, Parkinsons, and ALS, in the name of Coconut Oil. I don’t know how much of this is marketing for coconut oil. But I found the article fascinating. Margie Clayman shared 1 month, 30 blogging action items. Erica Says has a great post to teach the difference between categories and tags. I wish I had read this when I first started blogging. Update on my Egyptian Friends – Egypt in my Heart
I have, now, been in communication with my friends in Egypt. I must admit that with the traveling, I’ve been disconnected from the news and I had no idea things were going on in Egypt, until someone asked me how my friends were.. I, quickly, reached one friend who was fragile with his words. He told me he cared about Americans but he didn’t trust the American Government. This was after he said, to me, “Why does America care?” I did explain that I cared and I was asking and that I hadn’t heard from anyone in Egypt. (This particular Egyptian friend is not in Egypt.) Within a day or two, internet was returned and I was able to get a few messages back and forth on Facebook. Most were simply, “Pray.” I … Read entire article »

Florida Travel Check in.. ALS Walk Jax is April 2nd
Hello from Jacksonville. I made it to Florida Drupal Camp, Saturday, in Winter Park. Other than that, we’ve had some very uneventful weeks out of town. I’ve been healing well from the fall. Just have a few problems with my left arm. The bruises on my knee have almost all gone away. My hand and wrist seem to cramp when I drive. It reminds me I’m doing too much with it and I slow down use of it. I didn’t get a chance, this trip to see my friends in Jacksonville. I’ll be back for the ALS Walk, in April. I’ll send them invites to join the walk with me. Maybe that will get me to see them. The walk, here, is only two miles and starts at Tinsel Town. I had hoped to … Read entire article »

My opinion about recent school gun shootings.
First, let’s establish that people kill people. For whatever their reason. We’ve been seeing a huge increase in school shootings and bank robberies lately. I think the laws needs to be changed so people can protect themselves better. I think if more trained concealed weapons were in our schools, more people’s lives would be spared. Not just more security or school police, but school officials with the ability to stop a massacre before it begins. When the gun law was changed about the National Forests, I read all these lines about people worried that people would start being killed. My opinion, then, was bad people get guns and take them there anyway. But, lately, I’ve read how having a gun saved a couple from a bear while on … Read entire article »

My return visit to San Diego – all work and little play
Last year, I wrote a blog post about things I desperately missed about San Diego. Sadly, I only ate the food. El Pollo Loco didn’t impress me much, either. I didn’t get shaved ice, but around the corner, the day Gabe and I were able to get out. I didn’t remember the seaweed smell of Mission Beach (the only place we found a parking place.) Ick. haha I was so happy to see my Aunt Joy and Selena. Selena Rausch (in case she googles herself : ) ), is my youngest cousin that lives in Utah. She’s brought much joy and silliness to my Facebook. Thanks for making me enjoy Facebook, again, my cousins! , also,I did get to meet Dennis, Syndee, and Jesse. That … Read entire article »

Blog Education Learning Overload – Ebooks I need to read (and so do you)
There are some fantastic bloggers out there that can teach you so much about “blogging better” for SEO traffic. Many are really good at interlinking their own materials and setting a standard that all bloggers should follow. Even the big foot steps can be walked in to learn styles and improve your own posts and writing. I’m interstested in reading the all, as you should, too. I wanted to bring three ebooks to your attention: The first one is Kelby Carr’s Mom Blog SEO: Mom Blog SEO includes: How to find the best keyword phrases to drive the right readers for your blog Tactics that take a couple minutes before each post and can dramatically increase your traffic How to target the right readers and stop attracting the wrong ones How to boost your … Read entire article »

CDC Health Questionnaire or Identity Theft?
Over a month ago, I received a screening call, on my cell phone from the “center for disease control.” They were surveying 8,000 random people, to ask them personal questions, to improve the future of health care. After answering questions like “Is this your cell phone?” “Are you driving right now?” “Is this cell phone the only one you own?” and “Do you own any other telephone numbers?” (Notice they didn’t ask about a land line or other phones.. creative, I thought. After telling me that everything was confidential, I was told I could have a $10 check for my compliance, in the survey. They would put my personal information into a different computer. At first, I wasn’t feel too comfortable that the call was legitimate. Then I wasn’t feeling … Read entire article »

Have you met Heather Solos and Angela England?
Many of my friends are up and coming in the blogging world. Two got recent recognition and I wanted to bring it to your attention. First, my good friend, Heather Solos was mentioned, on Problogger with 39 other bloggers to watch in 2011: Her profile has grown organically over the course of five years. She co-founded Home-Ec101.com, “a site designed to teach real people, real skills, as they apply to real lives.” In addition to this, she has gotten a book deal, leveraged in-person meetings to get great results, and has achieved multiple writing spots in newspapers. You can learn more about how she did this in her interview on BlogcastFM. Angela England, founder of Untrained Housewife, whom I was fortunate to meet, in person, at Type-a-mom, was recognized in an About.com … Read entire article »

5,600 miles later.. I’m home
I bet you just thought I disappeared after all that pumpkin posting. Actually, I did. My mother, who lives in San Diego, California, (my home town) had surgery, several weeks ago. She was given a 1 in 5 chance of recovery. I, quickly, went into action, and drove to Florida to pick up my brother-I-was-raised-with and we drove to California in four days. We just walked right into her hospital room and surprised her. She was supposed to be there 6-8 weeks and we took her home on the day of week two. Many other things have happened between there and here and I will get to those, for you, shortly.. but right now, I have to say goodbye to my 13 year old friend and feline companion. While I was gone, he had to have … Read entire article »
